With the approach of a South Korea-U.S. joint military exercise on March 9-20, North Korea on Wednesday threatened dire consequences if the two countries violate its borders. If they "invade even 0.001 mm into our territory, we will mobilize all our potential and deal a hundreds of thousands of times more powerful strike in retaliation," the official Rodong Shinmun daily said.

In an editorial, the newspaper wrote, "The U.S. boasts its superior strength. But its military capability is not an absolute one. We have a weapon called unity of leader, party and the masses, which is more powerful than nuclear weapons."

It said a "firm ethos" has been established in the North in which "the entire society gives priority to the military. All people are armed and the entire country has been fortified," it added.
