Trade volume between Korea and Singapore has almost doubled only three years after a free trade agreement took effect.
The Finance Ministry says bilateral trade expanded from close to US$13 billion in 2005 to almost $25 billion last year. This pushed up Korea's trade surplus with the Southeast Asian city state by nearly $6 billion.
In terms of investment, Korea injected slightly more than $900 million into Singapore last year, a big jump from about $100 million before the trade deal. Singapore's investments in Korea during the three years more than doubled to $900 million.
