Of the 116 stations operated by Seoul Metro on Subway Lines 1 to 4, Gangnam Station on Line 2 was the most frequented last year, with an average of 124,714 people using it per day. The figure is over 100 times more than 1,096 people who used the Dorimcheon Station each day.
Seoul Metro's 2008 performance result, released on Tuesday, showed the subway served 1.447 billion people last year, earning W790.87 billion. It means an average of 3.95 million people used Seoul Subway Lines 1 to 4 per day.
The most people used Lines 1 to 4 on Christmas Eve last year, with 5.07 million people riding the subway, while lunar New Year¡¯s Day, which fell on Feb.7, attracted the least passengers.
Some 12.6 percent of passengers used the subway lines for free, at a cost of W135.2 billion (US$1=W1,373).
