The Hyundai Genesis was selected as a top model in the large upscale sedan category in the latest issue of American magazine Consumer Reports.
In the February issue, the Genesis, which achieved 92 points on an overall road test that evaluates acceleration, brake power, handling, and ride, became the top-rated large upscale sedan, outscoring the former top model, the Lexus ES, which earned 91 points.
The magazine divided 25 models into two categories; large upscale sedans costing under US$45,000 and luxury sedans costing more than that. The Infiniti M35X topped the luxury sedan category, followed by the Infiniti M35, and Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec.

Consumer Reports wrote, ¡°The Hyundai Genesis rivals high-end luxury sedans but costs considerably less.¡± The vehicle costs $36,000. The magazine evaluates vehicle dependability and safety on models that meet the safety requirements of the government and American Insurance Association and rates them after running more than 50 individual tests.
