President Lee Myung-bak and UN Secretary-General put their heads together to tackle global problems such as the economic crisis and climate change.
Lee and Ban spoke on the phone Saturday and started off with their New Year's greetings. They went on to acknowledge each other's leadership roles in the global arena -- regarding issues of climate change and food shortage for Ban and at the G20 financial summit for Lee.
Lee promised more Korean engagement in peacekeeping campaigns, while Ban vowed to work with the government for better inter-Korean relations.
