The stock market will open at 10 a.m. on Jan. 2, the Korea Exchange announced Thursday, an hour later hour than originally scheduled due to the opening ceremony.

Sales hours on opening day will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sales hour before market opening was also postponed to between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Sales hours after closing will remain unchanged between 3:10 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Ex-dividend day will be Dec. 29, and investors wishing to get dividends will have to buy stocks by Dec. 26. The stock market will close on Dec. 30 for the year, with business hours as usual. The market will be closed on Dec. 31 and this will not be counted for any settlement of payment.
