POSCO Engineering and Construction has proposed a rapid subway line that would connect Gwanghwamun to Gangnam Station within 10 minutes. The Seoul Metropolitan Government on Thursday said POSCO Engineering sent a business plan to build the 11.47 km subway that would connect Gangnam Station and Gyeongbok Palace Station through Hannam-dong and Seoul City Hall.
"We will commission the Public and Private Infrastructure Investment Management Center under the Ministry of Strategy and Finance to review the plan," it said.
POSCO wants to start in 2010 and complete construction in June 2015 with a total budget of W1.4 trillion.
If the plan is realized, it would ease heavy dependence on Subway Line 3 that connects areas south of the river to downtown and shorten the commuting time for those living in Bundang and Pangyo in the southern suburbs of Seoul.
