Commuters can now travel from Seoul directly to the city of Asan in South Chungcheong Province by subway. Seoul Metro opened the extension for line one on Monday.

The commute takes about two hours from Seoul to the last stop at Shinchang station. The six new stations include Ssangyong, Asan and Onyang Oncheon. University students will benefit as most new stations are located close to college campuses.

Traffic between Cheonan and Asan, often heavy during rush hours, is also expected to be reduced as a result of the extension.
