Gov't Seeks to Ease Visa Rules for Foreign Workers
Starting next year, foreign workers in Korea will likely be able to extend their employment terms without having to leave the country first. The ministries of Labor and Justice are pushing to allow the workers to extend their contracts within the country as long as the extension is for less than two years.

Currently, many expatriates have to leave the country annually at least a month before their work visas expire to get a renewal at a Korean consulate or embassy abroad.

The proposed measure also says foreign workers should be able to prolong contracts for both their jobs and homes by up to three years.
