The Korean government and the ruling Grand National Party are reportedly going ahead with follow-up measures to the Korea-U.S. free trade agreement without parliamentary approval.
An FTA task force apparently met last week, and one key official told Yonhap News that the support measures to protect the domestic agricultural sector are still necessary since Korea is preparing to strike more trade deals with other countries.
Last year the support measures that followed the trade deal to be used this year failed to materialize because lawmakers had decided to delay the implementation until after ratification of the FTA.
The budget for next year's support plan is about W470 billion (US$1=W1,464).
