After a buying spree, China now holds the most U.S. government bonds in the world, after Japan. According to Bloomberg, the U.S. Treasury Department announced on Tuesday that China held US$585 billion of U.S. government bonds at the end of September.
China bought $43.6 billion-worth in September alone, bulging its holdings by $107.4 from January to September this year.
On the other hand, Japan, which formerly held the worldĄŻs most U.S. bonds, sold as much as $12.8 billion-worth of them in September. It now holds $573.2 billion-worth.
