The number of new civil servants recruited next year will be at a similar level as this year, if local governments follow recommendations by the central government to be given soon.
Public Administration and Security Minister Won Se-hoon on Monday told reporters the government plans to maintain the number of new seventh and ninth-grade civil servants recruited next year at 3,200, the average number over the last 15 years. ˇ°We will persuade local governments to recruit a similar number as in past years,ˇ± he said.
But it remains to be seen whether provincial administrations will follow the recommendation as they were planning to reduce the number of new recruits next year amid the economic slowdown.
