Lee Congratulates Obama on the Phone
President Lee Myung-bak spoke with U.S. president-elect Barack Obama on Friday morning, said Cheong Wa Dae spokesman Lee Dong-kwan on Friday. In the phone conversation, President Lee congratulated Obama on his election victory and discussed ways to maintain and develop alliances between the two countries.

On November 14, on his trip to the U.S. for the Group of 20 summit, President Lee is scheduled to meet diplomacy and security advisers to Obama in Washington D.C., to discuss pending bilateral issues, including the South Korea-U.S. free trade agreement and the North Korea nuclear issue.

The presidential office is also striving to set a meeting for President Lee with Obama during his stay in the U.S. "Whether Obama will attend the G-20 summit is uncertain, but we'll make diplomatic efforts to arrange a meeting," said the spokesman.
