Olga Kurylenko, a ¡°Bond girl¡± in the 22nd installment in the 007 series, ¡°Quantum of Solace,¡± was branded a national traitor by a communist party.
A communist party in St. Petersburg, Russia¡¯s second city, claimed Tuesday, a day before the release of the new film, ¡°Camille plays a role assisting Bond who kills hundreds of people in the Soviet Union,¡± and ¡°Kurylenko being a Bond girl is tantamount to moral betrayal to the country.¡±
Kurylenko was born to a Ukrainian father and Russian mother, and holds Ukrainian nationality although she acquired French citizenship in 2001. Perhaps the Russian communist party aspires to revert to Soviet-era separatism.
The party also accused the film of suggesting that Kurylenko¡¯s character tries to seduce Daniel Craig¡¯s Bond, which it sees as an attempt to encourage people around the world to insult Russia.
