Over half of Korean college students attend private tutoring schools, a survey by local online job search service Job Korea suggests.
Out of more than 1,000 students, nearly 53 percent said they are currently registered in after-school classes mostly to study English and computer proficiency.
Each student spends roughly W1.9 million (US$1=W1,264) on these private tutoring schools every year.
Job Korea says more students are turning to after-school classes because they believe it will give them the competitive edge they need to get a job.
