ICE Park, where winter sports can be enjoyed all around the year, will be constructed in Jeju Island. A stadium where a sport that bets on short track speed skating will be created is drawing attention as the only one of its kind in the world.

Jeju is to get its own winter sports complex, the International City Development Center announced Monday. The Jeju IcePark, a core project of the international free city, will measure some 700,000 sq. m and cost some W900 billion (US$1=W1,264). The ice rink will accommodate 10,000 people, and there will also be indoor ski slopes, an artificial ice cliff, an ice and snow sculpture park, a penguin town, and a park with bobsleigh rides.

The JDC expected an annual W345 billion of economic effects and some 10,000 jobs to be created if efforts to establish the park as a leisure business hub are successful.
