Koreans traveling abroad spent an average of W1.73 million (US$1=W1,295) per person during the first half of this year.

According to the Korea Tourism Organization, the average spending per person jumped more than US$116 compared to last year.

The top destinations for Korean travelers were China, Japan and Southeast Asia.

Officials say the increase continued until the global financial crisis emerged, but it will most likely drop during the latter half of this year.
