Korea, China and Japan are scheduled to hold their inaugural tripartite summit in Fukuoka, Japan on Dec. 14.
A Korean official said on Sunday, ¡°President Lee Myung-bak, Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao and Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso will discuss cooperation in overcoming the U.S.-sparked global financial crisis,¡± adding, ¡°"There will soon be a formal announcement on the specific schedule and agenda.¡±
The leaders of the three countries will also discuss expanding currency swap among their nations, political situations on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, including the North Korean nuclear issue, and cooperating on climate change and other global issues.
The first tripartite summit was originally scheduled to be held in the Japanese city of Kobe in September, but was put on hold due to the abrupt resignation of then-Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda.
