Switch to Internet Phone, Keep Your Landline Number
More landline telephone users are expected to switch to Internet telephony now that new regulations allow them to keep their old phone numbers. So far, Internet phone numbers started with 070 and were easily mistaken for spam or advertising numbers. The new regulations go into effect on Friday.

Internet phone calls are significantly cheaper than landline calls, and it is possible to receive text messages and weather and traffic information besides. However, a power cut would cut off the Internet phone as well.

Currently, LG Dacom, Samsung Networks, SK Broadband and KT provide Internet telephony services. The price for calls is W36-39 for three minutes for local calls, and for distance calls over 30 km W250 for three minutes. Those who wish to switch to Internet telephone only need to apply for the service with the operator; there is no need to cancel the existing contract.
