North Korea in military talks on Monday again demanded the South to stop distribution of propaganda leaflets by South Korean civic groups and ask the South to provide materials and equipment for repairing military hotlines.
The Defense Ministry in a statement the same day said the North pointed to the increasing distribution of anti-communist leaflets and asked the South to stop it. The North reportedly warned that failure to do so would have ¡°consequences.¡±
Col. Lee Sang-cheol, the head of the North Korea policy bureau at the ministry said, ¡°As in the military meeting on Oct. 2, North Korea said if the distribution of leaflets continues, it will hurt inter-Korean economic cooperation at the Kaesong Industrial Complex and passage of South Korean nationals across the DMZ.¡± North Korea warned once again it could deny permission for South Korean visitors to stay in Kaesong or Mt. Kumgang.
