Korea took the lead after 20 minutes thanks to a shot from Lee Geun-ho. Five minutes later, Park Ji-sung, the only Premier Leaguer in Korea's lineup, penetrated the UAE defense to score the second goal of the game.

Korea's lead was threatened when the opposing team scored 35 minutes into the second half. But Korea scored twice more to clinch a comfortable victory.

Led by head coach Huh Jung-moo, Korea's team needed to defeat the victoryless UAE squad to obtain its seventh consecutive World Cup placing.
