President Lee Myung-bak nominated former Korea University president Euh Yoon-dae as chairman for the putative National Brand Committee.

A Cheong Wa Dae official said Euh ¡°developed Korea University into an international school by promoting its image as a brand and is therefore the ideal person to encourage cooperation from the private sector.¡± Euh is to assume the chairmanship of the committee when it is officially launched in January next year.

The National Brand Committee was proposed by Lee in a speech marking Liberation Day to raise the value of Korea¡¯s national brand to the level of developed countries. The committee is to boost the competitiveness of major cities, draw up overseas marketing strategies, raise awareness of Korea, and establish cultural infrastructure.

Euh (63) was born in Jinhae, South Gyeongsang Province and was chairman of the Korea Money and Finance Association and Korean Academic Society of Business Administration.
