Kumho Asiana Group Chairman Suggests Joint Research Project for Tunnel Linking Korea and Japan
At the Business Summit Roundtable (BSR), held at the Hotel Shilla on the 10th, Park Sam-koo, chairman of the Kumho Asiana Group, suggested a joint project to look into constructing an undersea tunnel between Korea and Japan.

Chairman Park said at the BSR that opening an undersea tunnel between Japan and Korea and then linking it to a tunnel between Korea and China would join not only the Far East together but also that region to Europe, creating a major Eurasian transcontinental route. Chairman Park cited the example of the undersea tunnel linking England to France and, with it, continental Europe, pointing out that this tunnel transports 210 million passengers and 170 million tons of freight to provide a major boost for the European economy.

Meeting for the BSR that day were 15 Korean business leaders, including representatives from five economic organizations -- among them was Chairman Cho Suk-rai, Chairman Park Sam-koo of the Kumho Asiana Group, Chairman Lee Young-yol of the Kolon Group, Vice Chairman Lee Yun-woo of Samsung Electronics, Vice Chairman Kang Yu-shik of the LG Group, and 12 Japanese business leaders, including Chairman Mitarai Fujio of the Nippon Keidanren and Chairman Cho Fujio of Toyota.
