Industrial Espionage Takes Toll on Korean Industries
Industrial espionage is a serious growing problem for Korean companies. According to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy there were 124 leaks of industrial technology to overseas companies from 2003 to 2007, resulting in losses estimated at over W187 trillion (US$1=W1,329).

This year through July 27, cases were filed with losses already totaling about W1 trillion.

Of all cases filed during the past five years, most came from the electronics industry, followed by information technology, precision instruments, and biotechnology. Most leaks were attributed to former or current employees.
