Cleveland Indians outfielder Choo Shin-soo has been named the American League Player of the Month for September in Major League Baseball.
The 26-year-old Busan native won the award after batting 0.400 with five home runs and 24 runs-batted-in during the final month of the regular season.
Choo finished the season with a 0.309 batting average with 14 homers and 66 RBIs in only 94 games.
He is the first Korean fielder to ever win the honor. The only other Korean to win the award was pitcher Park Chan-ho back in July 1998 in his first tour of duty with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
