¡®New Growth Engine¡¯ Firms to Be Exempt from Tax Probe
National Tax Service Commissioner Han Sang-ryule on Thursday pledged to exempt enterprises related to new growth engines including energy and environment and businesses that have created many jobs from regular tax probes for one to three years.

According to the NTS, enterprises in 22 industries in a total of six sectors -- energy and environment (including pollution-free coal energy), transport (including green cars, ships and marine systems), new information technology (including semiconductors and displays), new fusion industry (including robots, new materials and nanofusion materials), bioengineering (including new bio-medicines and medical equipment), and knowledge services (cultural content and design) -- will be exempt from tax probes. These businesses will be exempt from regular tax probes for three years from the year when they first register an income.

The NTS will also exempt 27,460 small and medium-sized enterprises that create more than 10 percent of new jobs in the first half this year from this year's regular tax probes.

SMEs which employ more than 10 percent in the second half of this year will also be exempt from next year's regular tax probes. For more information, call the Corporate Tax Division of the NTS at (02) 397-1822.
