Chuseok Traffic Jams at Their Worst on Sep. 13-14
The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs says more people will be heading homewards during this year's Korean thanksgiving holiday of Chuseok.

Chuseok is only three days long this year, two days fewer than last. The number of people returning to their hometowns is expected to increase by over 2 percent, increasing traffic by almost 1 percent compared to 2007.

According to a survey conducted by the ministry, traffic will be at its worst on the 13th and 14th.

The ministry is planning to block roads at key intersections to prevent further gridlock, while increasing the availability of public transportation and the number of temporary women's bathrooms at stopovers to reduce inconvenience.
