Taean County, which was devastated by the country's worst ever oil spillage, has finally been given the go-ahead for fishing.
The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has completed safety checks on marine life in the region, and says normal service can now be resumed.
According to ministry officials, fishing licenses will be issued and all restrictions lifted immediately. However safety checks will still be conducted on a regular basis.
