Hynix Opens New NAND Flash Memory Line
Hynix Semiconductor on Thursday opened a third plant in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, built exclusively for making NAND flash chips on advanced 300 mm wafers. Construction of the plant had started in April last year.

The M11 line will produce memory chips with large storage capacity such as 16 gigabyte and 32 gigabyte memory products with 40-nanometer technology. With the completion of the new plant, Hynix will be able to expand its production capacity to 500,000 units a month.

According to market research firm iSuppli, Hynix ranked third in the world after Samsung Electronics and Toshiba in the NAND flash memory market in the second quarter of this year with a 13.4 percent market share.
