Most Koreans are more careful about opening their wallets these days. According to a recent survey conducted by Samsung Economic Research Institute, two-thirds of respondents said they've cut down on expenses since the recent hike in oil prices.
Dining out was the primarily affected by this, with transportation marked second. Roughly 70 percent of respondents said they've kept away from the wheel.
Koreans' famous zeal for education proved intact; overall, people were most reluctant to cut educational expenses.
