Chinese President Hu Jintao on Tuesday urged Korean businesses to invest in China, saying, "As the Chinese government will provide convenience, we hope many Korean businesses will participate in the construction of infrastructure and eco-friendly facilities in the central-western and eastern regions."
In a lunch meeting with Korean business leaders hosted by four business associations at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, Hu said, "The two countries should expand mutual investment."
He added, "The Chinese government supports Chinese enterprises investing in Korea. I hope the Korean government will also provide a favorable (investment) environment."
The luncheon was attended by about 250 people, including 200 Korean business leaders and about 50 Chinese officials, including Federation of Korean Industries chairman Cho Suck-rai, Hyundai Group chairwoman Hyun Jung-eun, GS Caltex chairman Hur Dong-soo, and POSCO chairman Lee Ku-taek.
