Korea Plans 'Entrepreneurship Weeks'
The Ministry of Knowledge Economy on Tuesday said it decided to designate Oct. 30 to Nov. 9 as ¡°Entrepreneurship Weeks¡± to moderate anti-business sentiment and develop a new driving force for economic growth. It made the decision in consultation with the Small and Medium Business Administration and five business associations including the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Korean Industries.

In this year¡¯s event, the ministry, the five organizations and local authorities will form a pro-business association, and hold a marathon, a debate on positive labor relations, and give a prize to those who worked hard to promote amicable relationships between conglomerates and small and medium-sized companies. Economics classes for children, a lecture on how to start up a business for university students and workers will be offered to encourage potential entrepreneurs.

The U.K. has designated the third week of November every year as Entrepreneurship Week since 2004, and hold events such as a contest on setting up business and lectures by entrepreneurs in local schools. In the U.S., a non-profit organization, the Kauffman Foundation has also held an Entrepreneurship Week since last year.
