Korea TV MakersĄŻ Market Share Soars 30%
Korean TV companies have seen their global market share exceed 30 percent for the first time ever. Market research firm DisplaySearch said Tuesday that Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics held a combined share of 30.7 percent in the world TV market in the second quarter of the year, up from 29.0 percent in the first quarter.

Samsung took a 20.4 percent share in the LCD TV market in the second quarter, leading the market for eight consecutive quarters since the third quarter of 2006. This is the first time the Korean electronics giant has exceeded a 20 percent market-share. They move 7.4 percentage points clear of second-placed Sony from 6.4 percentage points in the first quarter. Samsung also ruled the TV market overall in the second quarter, with a 17.4 percent market-share.

LG recorded a total of 13.3 percent in the TV market and 13.0 percent in the LCD TV market.
