Honda Accord is the Record Fastest-selling Foreign Car in Korea
In July, Honda became the first foreign automotive brand to sell more than 1,000 cars a month in Korea. According to the number of newly registered imported cars released by the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association, Honda Accord sold 1,103 units last month.

One dealer of Korean-made cars says, "Monthly sales of 1,000 means the imported brand can compete head to head with Korean brands."

Domestically, GM Daewoo Tosca shifted 1,964 units, followed by Renault Samsung SM7 with 1,217. But 15 Korean brands sold less than the Honda Accord: Hyundai Motor Eqqus (450), Tuscani (159), Kia Motors Serato (643), Sorento (329), Mohave (549), GM Daewoo Gentra (869), Laccetti (704), Renault Samsung QM5(975) and all of Ssangyong Motors brands excluding the pickup truck Actyon Sports.

There was an all-time high of 6,462 newly registered imported cars in July, up 15.8 percent from June and 48.2 percent year on year. But newly registered Korean cars only grew 5.1 percent year on year. By brand, Honda sold the most at 1,665, up 216 percent from July of last year. Following was BMW (734), Volkswagen (716), Mercedes-Benz (656), Audi (533), Lexus (502), Chrysler (396 including Dodge?Jeep), Infinity (298), Ford (285) and Volvo (174). Owing to new models like the Tiguan, Volkswagen posted the highest sales since entering the Korean market in 1989, rising from sixth in June to third place in July.
