Groups Seek Class Action Suit Over Mad Cow Program
Lawyers for Citizens and an online club opposing illegal anti-U.S. beef street protests will sue MBC current affairs program ¡°PD Diary¡± for what they called ¡°plunging society into chaos by distorting and exaggerating the risks of mad cow disease in American beef.¡±In a press conference at the Cecil Restaurant with Citizens United for Better Society, they announced they aim to mobilize plaintiffs for a class action suit against ¡°PD Diary¡± for emotional and substantial damages.

The civic groups pointed out that the Korea Communications Standards Commission ordered ¡°PD Diary¡± to apologize to viewers, and the Seoul Southern District Court also ordered it to air corrections. They plan to mobilize more than 10,000 plaintiffs. They will then proceed with a lawsuit demanding an apology from the MBC president and W1 million compensation for each plaintiffs (US$1=W1,017). If the number of claimants does reach 10,000, the scale of the suit will mount to W10 billion.
