Starting this August, Korean automakers will be required to specify carbon dioxide emission levels of all newly-manufactured vehicles for the domestic market.
The Ministry of Knowledge Economy said Tuesday the new regulation will help consumers choose more eco-friendly vehicles.
Labels are to be attached on car windows and will have to show how much fuel is used and how much CO2 released in 1 kilometer of driving.
Korean automaker Renault Samsung Motors already started labeling CO2 emission levels at the beginning of July. Hyundai and Kia followed suit on July 14.
