Gov't Sues 10 Roh Aides for Purloining Classified Files
The National Archives of Korea on Thursday filed a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office against 10 aides to former president Roh Moo-hyun for illegally removing presidential records and files.

"Over the last three months, we have asked ex-president Roh and his aides to return the documents they have taken from Cheong Wa Dae,Ħħ the NAK said in a statement. NAK officials have made three telephone calls, sent five official letters and paid two visits to Roh's home in the village of Bongha, near the southeastern port city of Busan.

"Roh and his aides have unilaterally returned presidential records and files, including classified documents. They therefore made it impossible for the government to retrieve the documents in their entirety," it said.

Talks on the return of the documents broke down last Friday.

The NAK added it decided to sue to find out whether the aides also removed other classified presidential documents, whether there are other copies, and whether the documents they returned are the complete original sets.
