New Town Developers to Follow Preservation Rules
Developers of so-called "new town" redevelopment projects in Seoul will be obligated to leave some of the original appearance of the areas. This is according to Seoul Metropolitan Government's new plan aiming to preserve some of the city's original image.

Developers in 35 areas that include the new towns will have to submit proposals that include how they plan keep local elements such as parks and public squares.

Assisted by the new policy, a former residential area in west Seoul known as "bee-hive-village" that once was populated with laborers will be rebuilt. A memorial park in southern Seoul showcasing the development of the city will also be built.
