Correctional Facilities Will Only Air Borami Network
All correctional facilities in Korea will now have a new TV program lineup, the Justice Ministry's Borami Network. The ministry officially took over editing prison TV shows earlier this month to boost the educational aspect of their contents.

Prior to this, prisons would reedit regular TV programs to make it appropriate for inmates, but the government found that most of the content shown was purely for entertainment without much educational value.

Now the Ministry of Justice will not only shift the programming focus to be more educational but will also produce its own advertisements and documentaries that will help teach prisoners.

The other type of production will be documentaries -- some that reveal the struggles the families go through when their loved ones are behind bars and some covering former convict success stories.

The Borami Network is currently being aired in 47 correctional facilities, and according to ministry officials its implementation is expected to save the government W1.4 billion in labor costs annually.
