Korea's first astronaut Yi So-yeon received a warm welcome from President Lee Myung-bak Wednesday, about a month after she returned to Earth from the International Space Station.
The two were scheduled to meet last month but it was put off after Yi was hospitalized with neck and back pain caused by the rough landing she endured in a Russian Soyuz space capsule.
President Lee congratulated Yi on a successful mission and promised more attention would be given to developing Korea's space program. Yi presented the president with a miniature Soyuz space capsule and the Korean national flag she had taken into space.
