'Mommy Cops' Watching Over Gyeonggi Children
In the wake of an attempted kidnapping in Korea's Gyeonggi Province in late March mothers have teamed up with local governments to launch a corps of "Mommy Cops" to protect their children.

The volunteer groups consist of some 30,000 mothers of students from hundreds of elementary schools around the province surrounding Seoul. The Mommy Cops have begun by patrolling school areas and children's commuting routes.

Along the same lines, local governments in the province have enlisted retired police to help students facing bullying and abuse in and outside of school.
