Korea Hopes for 10 Gold Medals in Beijing
There are just 100 days to go until the much talked about and controversy-ridden Beijing Olympics. Korean athletes, with four years of hard work behind them, are training harder than ever to achieve their goal of being in the top 10 of the medal rankings.

But they will need 10 gold medals to do it and as in years past, Team Korea is expecting many of its traditionally strong events to play a central role.

Archery and taekwondo have always been important events for Korea, and judo is another event that could help carry Korea to gold, as Korean athletes are competing in all 14 weight classes.

In wrestling, Korea is gunning for its eighth straight gold. Swimming sensation Park Tae-hwan is hoping for Korea's first ever gold medal for the sport in the history of the Olympics.

Veteran gymnasts Yang Tae-young and Kim Dae-eun, both past Olympic medalists, are competing again in Beijing with their eyes on the top prize and super heavyweight lifting champion Jang Mi-ran is looking to score another win herself.

Korea is counting on these, among other events, to help them achieve their ultimate goal, but it may turn out to be tougher than expected as the Chinese team has the home-field advantage.

The 2008 Beijing Olympics opens Aug. 8 and runs for a total of 17 days with 28 sporting events and 302 gold medals up for grabs.
