Korean Traditional Crafts Exhibited in French Fair
Traditional Korean craftwork is gaining popularity at the 104th Fair of Paris in France, where nearly 700,000 people from all over the world are visiting the 13-day annual event.

Among the 70 countries exhibiting their traditional crafts are 23 Korean craftsmen displaying their work under the theme of Korea's royal crafts of the modern age. Korea's traditional products made of mother-of-pearl are exceptionally popular despite their high prices.

The Korea Crafts Artists Association has participated in the French trade fair since 2001 when Paris had no stores for Korean arts and crafts. Now there are 15 with customers returning for the traditional Korean products thanks to promotions through the fair.

Korea's history with the Fair of Paris goes back further than 2001. For the first show in 1900, Korea's last emperor Kojong of the Chosun Dynasty sent a delegation hoping to let the world know about Korea's situation as Japan began planning to colonize the country.
