¡°I feel excited on stage and happy,¡± Talbot said at a press conference at a hotel in Seoul on Wednesday, where she answered briefly and smiled shyly whenever she was asked a question. Citing ¡°Over the Rainbow¡± as her favorite song, she said, ¡°I always think about my grandma when I sing this song. I sang the song and watched the movie (¡°the Wizard of Oz¡±) with her.¡±
Connie there and then sang the song, throwing in ¡°I will Always Love You¡± by Whitney Houston as an encore, while her parents proudly looked on.
Simon Cowell, the show¡¯s acerbic chief judge, said she would earn a million pounds this year and helped her sign a contract with Sony BMG -- however, the company abruptly changed its mind after recording two songs. Connie later signed a deal with an obscure record label and released her first album late last year, but it got no higher than 38 in the British charts. Her father, Gavin Talbot, said at the press conference, ¡°Sony BMG asked Connie to engage in too many promotional activities, and Connie didn¡¯t like it. I think it was a good thing that the deal with Sony BMG was broken.¡±
