Local Gov'ts to Hire More Low-Income Workers
City, county and other local governments across Korea must now set aside one out of every 10 new jobs for low-income residents.

Monday's announcement by the Public Administration and Security Ministry requires local governments to reserve at least 10 percent of new staff positions for low-income people who get financial support under the government's basic livelihood security program.

The ministry says the jobs quota will open up thousands of full- and part-time jobs to individuals now facing economic hardship.
