For art lovers in the country two events being held separately this week offer tastes of both East and West.
A newly-opened art-auction house called Auction Byul located in Seoul's Insadong neighborhood is putting more than 140 works of art on the block this Friday.
Forty of them were created by foreign artists and the works being auctioned range in genre from contemporary to post-minimalist.
Aso in Insadong the Kyungin Museum of Fine Arts is showcasing works of calligraphy by Jhu Yingjie. Jhu is the head of the China Cultural Center in Seoul and some 30 works of calligraphy are on display.
