It was a "do or die" weekend for candidates running in the 18th general elections coming this Wednesday. With voting day close, senior members of the ruling and opposition parties rallied for support in Seoul and their regional strongholds.
The opposition United Democratic Party stumped for votes across key Seoul districts pledging to make home ownership a reality for middle-class citizens.
The UDP has put forth a plan which includes providing 99 sq.m apartments in metropolitan areas for under less than US$200,000. It also promises to do away with small tuition rates charged to attend public schools.
The ruling Grand National Party also continued with their marathon campaigning in a last-ditch effort to secure more than a majority in the 299-seat National Assembly.
With 111 constituencies up for grabs just in the Seoul metropolitan area the head of the GNP, Kang Jae-sup, plowed ahead for the second day in a row on a citywide campaign trail.
In a bid to sway undecided senior citizen voters the GNP announced it will build special residential complexes for elders in forty locations across the country.
The creator of the new conservative Liberty Forward Party Lee Hoi-chang is expected to stay in the Chungcheong provinces, the party's stronghold, right up until the eve of Wednesday's elections to secure at least 15 seats from the central region including the city of Daejeon.
