Global Warming Heats Up Seoul
Global warming has pulled up the average temperatures in March in Seoul, the Korea Meteorological Administration said Tuesday. The average low was 3.7 degrees Celsius in March this year, up 2.6 degrees from the average between 1971 and 2000. The temperature is 5.3 degrees higher than the average low of minus 1.6 degrees in the 1910s. This March, the average temperature and average high stood at 7.3 degrees and 11.9 degrees, up 1.7 degrees and 2.1 degrees from previous years.

The KMA predicts that global warming will also cause more frequent so-called tropical nights, as it will also pull up daily lows in the summer. Between 1971 and 2000, Seoul experienced on average 6.1 nights when temperatures remained above 25 degrees. But the number has doubled to 11 tropical nights since 2004.
