The Gwangju Metropolitan City is in full gear, wishing to host the Summer Universiade in five years. The city located within South Jeolla Province is packed with placards and banners saying "Universiade Gwangju 2013."
Some 10,000 citizens also participated in a walk, showing their anticipation of hosting the global sports event for university athletes.
More than a million Koreans already signed in support of hosting the event in a letter to be sent to the International University Sports Federation in charge of the Universiade.
The federation will decide the host city on May 31 in Brussels.
