Hyundai Engineering & Construction on Sunday said it has won a combined US$301 million in orders from the Qatar Hydroelectric Power Corp., including a $201 million order to build power substations and a $100 million order to lay power cables.
Under the deal, Hyundai will build seven 220งว substations near the Qatari capital of Doha and lay 156 km of 400งว power cable and 28 km of 220งว power cable.
A Hyundai executive said, "We've won a combined $1.5 billion in overseas orders so far this year, including the Qatar orders. With the latest orders as momentum, we're looking forward to winning more orders for about 100 substations in Qatar scheduled to be built by 2010."
